Gor Mahia suffered without the services of striker Benson Omala during the 0-0 draw with AFC Leopards on Sunday, head coach Sinisa Mihic believes.

The 79th Mashemeji Derby took place Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium, with both teams missing crucial chances to pick up three points as the business end of the season continues to pick momentum.

Gor, who had a number of half-chances to score, missed the services of a finisher to put the game to bed, according to Mihic, who believes that Gor did more than enough to win, minus the goals.

"This team misses a player like Omala who can easily finish chances that are presented to the team. We missed him," he told Radio Generation Sport following the match.

Omala, who has been playing his trade with Lebanese outfit Al Safa FC was unavailable for Gor as he is yet to secure an international transfer certificate to play.

He quit the Lebanese side in January citing unfulfilled promises and rejoined Gor in the recently ended transfer window.

Omala was top scorer for Gor with 19 goals last season and K'ogalo will hope to see him return as soon as possible to their squad as they aim to chase down Kenya Premier League leaders Kenya Police FC.

Police have 48 points from 25 games, with Gor on 43 from 24.

According to the coach, Gor are capable of catching up with resolute Police.

"We have to focus on our games. I believe if we win all our games then we are champions," he stated.

The record KPL champions have nine league matches left to play this season.
